
Prof. Thibaud Mathis

Thibaud Mathis is Full Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Lyon and Croix-Rousse Hospital (Hospices Civils de Lyon), Lyon, France, where he specializes in the medical and surgical management of degenerative and oncologic retinal diseases.
He founded and currently leads the BioChOR research team (Biomarkers of the Choroid, Eye, and Retina) within the MATEIS laboratory at the University of Lyon. His main research focuses on the role of inflammation in retinal neurodegeneration and vascular remodeling in retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema, and he has initiated several multicenter studies dedicated to the diagnosis and management of these disorders.
Prof. Mathis is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters. He continues to serve the retinal medical and scientific community in his current role as President of the French Retina Society.
