Dr. Woohyok Chang is a vitreoretinal surgeon with expertise in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and various surgical retinal diseases. After finishing medical school and a residency at Yeungnam University Hospital, Daegu, South Korea, he undertook fellowships at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Dr. Chang then spent 12 years as Head of the Vitreoretinal Service at Yeungnam University Hospital and served as Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology from 2014 to 2015. He recently moved from the university and founded his own retina clinic, Chang’s Retina Center, which operates as an ambulatory surgical center for vitreoretinal surgery.

 

Dr. Chang was awarded the Allergan Young Researcher Award in 2014 in recognition of his research activities and has received the Rhett Buckler Award in surgical video presentation at the American Society of Retina Specialists Film Festival in two consecutive years (2014–2015). He has published more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of numerous societies, including the Korean Retina Society, European Vitreoretinal Society, and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Chang is also a reviewer for a number of international journals and serves on the editorial boards of several retinal journals.
