Professor Tien Yin Wong is Medical Director of the Singapore National Eye Centre, and Provost’s Chair Professor of Ophthalmology at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, National University of Singapore, and Chair of the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

 

Professor Wong is a retinal specialist and scientist; he balances clinical management of retinal and macular diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy and AMD, with research into the use of novel retinal imaging techniques to predict diabetic and cardiovascular diseases. He has contributed to more than 1000 publications, including papers in the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet, and has given more than 300 invited named, plenary, and symposium lectures around the world.

 

Professor Wong has been recognized internationally and nationally for his work, and has received numerous awards, including the Singapore Translational Research Investigator Award, the National Outstanding Clinician Scientist Award, the President’s Science Award, the Alcon Research Institute Award, the Commonwealth Health Minister’s Award for Excellence in Health and Medical Research, and the Arnall Patz Medal from the Macula Society.
