Professor Masahito Ohji is Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Shiga University of Medical Science in Otsu, Japan. He graduated from Osaka University Medical School in 1983, and completed a research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, USA. He returned to Japan after being appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Osaka University Medical School.

 

Professor Ohji is on the editorial board of several journals, including the Japanese journal of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society, Ophthalmology, Retina Today, the Journal of Japan Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine, and EyeNet, and is Co-editor of Graefe’s Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. He is also a committee member of both the Japanese Retina and Vitreous Society and the Japanese Society for Ocular Circulation, and is an advocate of the International Council of Ophthalmology and scientific advisor for AMD Alliance International.

 

Professor Ohji has contributed to more than 150 scientific publications, and has co-authored many chapters in ophthalmology textbooks. His research interests include retinal and vitreous biology.
