Dr. Miguel A. Zapata is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a specialist in retina and ophthalmology at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Spain. His expertise is in the field of medical and surgical retina, with particular emphasis on macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

 

Dr. Zapata has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences and currently has 22 indexed publications. He received an award for the best paper at the Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society Congress in 2014.

 

Dr. Zapata’s main research interests are clinical and basic macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and development of new drugs for the treatment of retinal diseases. In clinical research, he has been the principal investigator of five projects in the last 4 years and collaborator in more than 20 clinical trials and translational research projects.
