Dr. Lee-Jen Chen is currently senior physician at Mackay Memorial Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. Following completion of his medical degree from the Chung Shan Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, he went on to serve 2 years as a naval medical officer. He completed his surgical residency at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital before moving on to an ophthalmology residency at Mackay Memorial Hospital.

 

He then completed a fellowship in retina research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Mississippi, USA, before returning to Taipei, where he was appointed Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology in 2009.

 

Throughout his career, Dr. Chen has been consistently awarded for his teaching, having received the Best Teacher of the Year Award at Mackay Memorial Hospital nine times over the last 10 years. He has authored 14 peer-reviewed articles and has been involved in the organizing and running of five long-term clinical trials. He has been Director of the Taiwan Retina Society since 2011.
