Mr. Richard Gale is a Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist practicing at York Teaching Hospital, UK. He trained in Yorkshire, Cambridge and London (at Moorfields and St. Thomas’), and for a short period in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. His interests are in medical disorders of the retina and inflammatory eye disease. He has been awarded ‘best clinical service’ by the Macular Society.
Mr. Gale’s PhD was in the field of imaging and therapeutics in macular degeneration. He has been the chief or principal investigator on approximately 20 research studies, recruiting more than 500 participants. He has been awarded a number of personal grants for research and has published around 50 papers or book chapters.
Mr. Gale has a keen interest in education, chairing the Medical Ophthalmology Specialist Advisory Committee and a national assessment panel for the Medical Royal Colleges. He is an honorary senior lecturer at the Hull York Medical School.
