Dr. Timothy Lai is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Director of the 2010 Retina and Macula Centre, Hong Kong.
As one of the leading experts in vitreoretinal diseases in the Asia-Pacific region, Dr. Lai has published more than 180 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, and co-authored and edited 7 textbooks. He has also delivered numerous lectures worldwide and has received several international ophthalmic awards, including the Nakajima Award from the APAO and the Achievement Award from the AAO. Dr. Lai serves on the editorial boards of 10 international ophthalmic journals, with roles including Assistant Editor of Retina, Section Editor of Eye, and Section Editor of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lai’s clinical and research interests lie in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases, particularly polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, central serous chorioretinopathy, myopic maculopathy, diabetic retinopathy, choroidal neovascularization, visual electrophysiology, genetics of retinal diseases, and uveitis.
