Hazem Elsabagh obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1988. He received his master’s degree in ophthalmology in 1994, his medical doctorate degree from Benha University in Benha, Egypt in 1999, and undertook a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999.
Between 1999 and 2002, he undertook another fellowship at the Vitreoretinal Department of Magrabi Eye and Ear Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Since 2002, he has been a consultant and Chief of the Vitreoretinal Unit at Magrabi Eye Center in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Elsabagh is currently a reviewer for the British Journal of Ophthalmology and the Egyptian Retina Journal, and serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also has several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
